First impressions of Imola…. Prepared and pleasant. She gave us all portable radios with ear piece so that we could hear her and not have to be walking right next to her. Excellent addition to the tour . She was unbelievably knowledgeable about Sicily and its history . Took us all around the oldest parts of Palermo , showed us both sides . The beauties and the struggles of the city. We stopped for refreshments and a short break along the way. I must say Imola is an excellent tour guide and made this trip even more memorable. I took a private 5-6 hour tour with Imola the day after I arrived in Palermo, this past September. If you want a well-organized tour, filled with history, to all of the major sights in Palermo, book your tour with this knowledgeable and friendly woman! She knows EVERYTHING about the city and can give you the complete history of the island of Sicily, which brings all that you see clearly into focus. No small detail was overlooked.
Imola and I corresponded for several weeks prior to my arrival. She custom-tailored the tour to my specifications as to my personal “must-sees,” offered suggestions for sights I had not considered, took me to a neighbourhood restaurant where I had the BEST meal of my entire 2-week Sicily trip, and with one out-of-the way place I requested to see with which she was not fully familiar (it was outside the city and somewhere that typical tourists never go), she visited on her own time and researched it thoroughly before I arrived! That is true dedication to a client!!
Conversely, I took a walking tour the next day with the tour group I was joining for 12 days, and after my day with Imola, I had more detailed information about certain sites than this particular guide was dispersing to the group. (I kept wanting to jump into this guides’s narrative with “and ALSO this, this and also this!”) There was NO comparison to the quality of both tours!
